About the Author
Yvette Bowlin has always been a student of the mind. It started with her undergraduate and Master's work in Consumer Psychology and led to her studies of enlightenment and spirituality. Years of research and self-inquiry sent her down the path of discovering the root of our “clutter problem.” Her work has been featured on Huffington Post, Los Angeles Business Journal, several podcast interviews and more. From observing herself and others, Bowlin has pinpointed the reasons most people keep themselves stuck in sabotage, suffering, struggle, separation and stress. But we don’t have to stay stuck! Clutter stands in the way of peace, presence and clarity. Bowlin learned the 'art of hoarding' early on in childhood, and has since been meticulous about decluttering her life. She’s created a simple process for doing just that, outlined in The Declutter Code: 10 Simple Steps to Clarity. The underlying premise of her book, seminars and speeches is that the most effective way to declutter is from the inside out—starting with the mind! Also a certified yoga instructor, Bowlin enjoys helping others come into mind-body awareness to better facilitate deep decluttering. You can learn more about her at http://declutterist.com.

What a life-changer!!!
By Angela V
Wow!! My husband has been nagging me for years to get rid of stuff that is cluttering our home. He and I both hated living in clutter and dreading "unexpected" company. We got tired of having to feel embarrassed anytime people came over unannounced. I've tried cleaning and organizing but the clutter always returns in a matter of days. At 39 years of age, I decided to seek help because I finally realized that I've been completely powerless over the clutter and chaos, and if I haven't figured out how to fix the problem by now chances are I'll never be able to do it on my own.
This book was recommended to me by a friend, and OMG!!, it really opened my eyes. It helped me understand that the tangible clutter on the outside is just a reflection/projection of the clutter going on in my mind and emotions. Wow, I never would have thought it was so deep!! No wonder I've been trying in vain for so many years to address the problem!! I've been focusing on the outside rather than on the inside. Thank you so much, Yvette Bowlin, for this eye-opening book that has really made such a positive change in my life!! I'm a busy mom of 3 and work full time as a Kindergarten teacher, but I found this to be an easy read and was able to start following the 10 steps right away.
Not only have I been able to get rid of the clutter and keep it away for over a month now (greatest victory ever), but I can honestly say that I feel so much lighter on the inside now. I'm not carrying around so much extra baggage in my mind and emotions and I just feel so refreshed!! I would have never thought a 99 cent purchase would have had such a profound impact on my life!!
I encourage anyone struggling with clutter or stress to get this book. I promise you, you will not be sorry!! Not only will it help you, but your loved ones will also benefit because you'll be healthier and happier!
I never leave reviews, but in this case, I just had to because I know that if it could help me it could help anyone!! Happy Reading =)

If you want or seek clarity- here is how you find it!
By Clarity Seeker
I didn't know what "clutter" was, much less how to get rid of it. The Declutter Code showed me how to identify it, however, and then how to work on freeing myself from it- clarity. The author lays out simple steps to follow, experiments to work on over weeks of decluttering and then encourages you along the way, never making you feel like there is something wrong with you. She really cares about her readers. I love that about the book.
There are a lot of reasons we hang onto our "crap" and refuse to let it go. This could be from a meaning or event it represents or from us trying to avoid letting something bad happen again. We carry it around like an over-filled backpack. It weighs us down. The Declutter Codes gives you clear directions on how to lighten and eventually ditch that backpack altogether.
Wouldn't that be nice too? Instead of constantly comparing ourselves to our past self or what we had hoped for, we just accept ourself as perfect "where we are" and focus on "our role in the story" as the author states. I want that so bad. I have grown really tired of tearing myself down, verbally abusing myself because I just wasn't happy and satisfied with who I am.... or who my loved ones were. This book helped to change that in just a few days. I finished it within a week and never once felt like something didn't apply to me. Even yoga seems like a great way to slow my mind and, even better, slow down to accept me for me. I had only been going for a workout. Wow, has that changed.
Why you should read the book? Well, I think you cannot afford to not read it. There are books out there that change the way thousands or millions of people think about themselves, their environment and those around them. The Declutter Code is one of those books! It doesn't take too long to read but I would bet my bank account you get something from it really early on and start doing the experiments as well.
I started with meditation first. I look forward to adding time there and setting my mind for the day. For once in my life I get up looking forward to getting up and have a plan in place. You can get there too.
Happy reading!

Must read! Couldn't put the book down once I started!
By CJ
First off, this book is amazing. I read it from start to finish today. Now, I'm going back to do the weekly exercises Yvette (the author) laid out for us. I have it all bookmarked and highlighted, because that's how I'm used to reading books... Butttttt....
You don't need to do that! She has all the steps and weekly tasks really organized from 1-10... And it's really easy to copy and paste everything to my calendar for easy reminders.
I also love that she doesn't attack you as a reader like some authors do. She even says "where you are is perfect" or "take your time" and other calming remarks or quotes. That's rare from the 8-10 self-help books I've read in the past. They're usually really pushy.
How I found the book... I love looking up new books and authors. The Declutter Code showed up this morning and the price was right! Free download if you are new to the Kindle app! Haha
I downloaded it around noon today and, until I finished it, didn't put my phone (kindle app) down once. I even read it while I was at the gym. Chest day too! Glad I had the day off!
Me: I am just like most guys in the military. I have uniforms from 1996. That sounds pretty bad. I didn't use them for Halloween either... They are just there. I always figured I'd just toss them- "some day." Hard-headed much?
I didn't believe in yoga, meditation or anything else that required me to be still or slow down either. Especially taking a systematic approach to figuring out why I hung onto to so much junk (literally) and bad memories from past failures- like relationships, credit, jobs, etc.
My favorite line from the book: "what's going on in our minds is going on in our homes." Holy crap! My old uniforms relate to my way of thinking and it's pretty obvious my failed relationships were due to me forcing the "flow" as the author put it. Not sure why I never thought about it that way or how it all could be linked. Now it makes sense.
The author is great at explaining concepts too. She uses analogies and even personal stories of when she dealt with clutter in her life. I like the vulnerability from her and could feel her words were very personal, not just a book someone regurgitated after reading other books.
This book changed the way I think about a lot of things. Looking forward to the online course and email distro too. Not all books ask you if you want to keep working on what you learned, but that's pretty important or you could just slip right back to how you were before. And those uniforms gotta go!
All the best,
CJ
