Reliable information for understanding the science behind losing weight

I’ve added several weight loss books to my repertoire since the new year and have been pouring through them in recent weeks. One thing I hate is the exclusion of fat. To me, I don’t think it’s a bad thing. Sugars are, but fat? No way. That’s why I find ‘Eat Fat, Lose Weight’ sensible.

This book helped me clarify the why/how fat isn’t going to sabotage my healthy eating, and had studies and research quoted to back up claims. Science-based dieting is a better alternative than fads and I think that anyone trying to lose weight needs to read this to understand what’s really going on when we eat different things. Debunking those fad diets and “healthy” foods is a first step in understanding how to eat properly and ‘Eat Fat, Lose Weight’ does just that.

Being able to eat what I want is important, but I also know the importance of eating healthy, and not all kinds of foods are. This book is very helpful in explaining that fat isn't a bad thing. As humans, we need certain kinds of food and fats are one of them. Just like healthy and unhealthy cholesterol, fats play similar roles in our diet.

Eat Fat, Lose Weight is a wonderful introduction to the science of eating right. Cates' knowledge is on point with facts and research that separates his ideas from the rest who just have claims. Atkins wasn't for me and neither is Weight Watchers. I enjoy steaks just as much as the next guy and, like Cates, see no reason to cut some of my favorite foods out of my diet.

This book is full of the nutritional information I've been looking for. I definitely needed this, especially after the holidays. I like the fact that I don't have to cut everything I like out of my diet.
