JULIE RENWICKE is an award-winning visual artist residing near Aurora, Ontario. With her passion for painting and deep awareness of ancient times and cultures and universal mysteries, writing "Hula Hoop, The Circle of Connection" became a natural and very emotional pursuit and primary goal. Julie writes with an artistic insight and philosophical meaningfulness drawn from a foundation of years of intuitiveness in the practice of yoga and meditation, an educational background in arts and humanities, and an amazing affinity with the presence of connection and synchronicity in her own personal life. In "Hula Hoop" Julie has woven together the creative inspiration with which she paints, the spiritual beliefs through which she views the universe and our place in it, and the ancient philosophies and wisdom that have explained cosmological harmony throughout the history of mankind. As a visual artist, Julie believes, as Jackson Pollock has declared, that "every good painter paints what he is". This is a unique and informative book, in which the author shares her experience in coming to see the universal interconnection between and among everything, and celebrates the heightened awareness and understanding that this realization manifests. She provides many examples, from the global wisdom of many ancient cultures, to the interconnections seen in our natural world, to the power of mindful living and being open and attuned to the world we live in. The book is well organized, with each chapter delving into a specific area or example of universal connection, and provides a rich and comprehensive amount of material overall. The author has a deep affinity for the Hawaiian culture, in particular, and those who share this interest will find this book especially meaningful. Without hesitation, I recommend this book, and believe that every reader will find information in it that will be new to them, and a cause for reflection and learning.
